Summer Series Race 6

The final race of the fab Summer Series saw bit of a taper in numbers with only 18 of us taking part.  Again, we had a few new faces taking part in their first tri’s and we hope they enjoyed themselves and feel inspired by what they did and saw. Shek-O was our venue and we were great by huge breakers along the beach and a choppy swell, which made navigation of the short 300m swim course somewhat demanding, especially for the less competent swimmers – but everyone got through safely.

The ride was the usual short, but challenging 2 loops to Big Wave bay and back, with that long climb up over the headland sapping the strength from everyone’s legs.

A final quick transition onto the run leg for a 2km out and back past the golf course.

We also had our youngest competitor ever giving it a go, young Jack aged 9 – who put a few of us to shame in the swim, but finished race 1 with a proud smile on his face – and very well deserved it was. I reckon a few more races and he’ll be giving the best of us a run for our money, he’ll at least be beating his Dad !!!
