Super-Sprint – Results

So the second of our annual SS ITT races over 2 x 9.5km was held on Saturday 1-Sep, the race results are now posted on our website.

A bit of heavy lashing rain on Friday and early Saturday morning unfortunately deterred the masses from showing up, which was a shame as by 06:30am over at Lantau, the sky was clearing up and conditions were very good with the roads only slightly damn and minimal wind on the first leg out, although the wind had picked up for the return leg – which I hasten to add, we did after a steady’ish loop around HAECO and Caribbean Coast.

Demi-God of the cycling world, Colin Robertson, had a stonking ride, and for those that like (and understand the stats) he provided us with below from his 2 laps.

Outward: 11m38s, 391W, 48.4kph, cadence 98rpm

Return: 12m57s, 371W, 43.3kph, cadence 96rpm

Dragons Green Jersey Holders:-

Mens: Current GJ holder Mark Weis retains the jersey after holding of the likes of me – a mere 2mins and 4seconds behind !!!

Womens: Mega-Machine Trilby White held off strong opposition from our own Yannkai Oh and Tritons leading lady Jane, to claim the female Green Jersey.

Thanks to everyone for participating in a slightly disjointed format – I shall manage it better next time. But as always it was all great fun and great camaraderie.

The next Dragons ITT is the 48km sprint on 29-Sep.

Summer Series Race 5 – Registration Open
The penultimate race in our fabulous and popular Summer Series of mini-Tri’s is on Saturday 15-Sep.

This season we have been running this series as a league table where your fastest 12 heats (out of a possible 18 heats) are accumulated, with the fastest overall time being the winner.

“Indicative” places in the league table are currently based on the average time of all the heats you have entered so far. Actual results and final standings wont be known until after the last race on 20-October – but there is a lot of jostling for position and the current times are looking close between a lot of athletes – so there is still everything to race for.

SIR’s 48k ITT on Saturday 8 September

The SIRs, HK’s unofficial premier bike club are hosting an ITT over 2x24km loops – no entry fee/registration, just turn up with your best bling.
Start time is at 7:10am from the GCP (Gravel Car Park) which is along the main drag  from Disney to Tung Chung.
The 2 loops will be from GCP into Disney and back to GCP.
Dragons kit if you have it – let’s put those SIR boys to the test.
Taiwan 70.3 on 3 November – Are you going?
Let us know if you are going – flight times, hotel etc and if you need transport from Airport to Hotel.
We know of about 15 Dragons going so far - so will be good for us to all meet up etc - especially for the important part of getting drunk post race J

If you’re staying or planning to stay at Yoho suggest you contact Zoe who seems to be the only one there speaking English – she will email you a reservation form which you need to return.
