SSTR2 – Race Results

Against the odds (or perhaps someone had a word with Him upstairs) the rain held off right until the last race had finished. Yes, we had damp roads, and yes the sea was a-rolling, but that didn't stop some blistering times being put down over the 3 heats. Clearly the league table is in the sights of many people as seen by the extra efforts being put in. Hong Kong new comer Iain Veitch set the course on fire with some unbelieeeevable splits on the bike and run and came home first in each of the 3 heats, followed by Luke, Olivier and Clinton.

We had a few other new faces on the day who were new to Triathlon, and we welcome Alasdair, and Will to our club and hope you enjoyed our event and camaraderie.

Also, young Leo Holland, a mere 8 years old, partook in his first tri and beat many of us out of the water and continued to show a few of us up on the run. A great race Leo, we congratulate you – Well done.

But it was also a day of sadness. Jacques (le Mechanic) Lemire will be departing the shores of HK for a new job position in North Carolina. We shall all miss him, especially Pierre (Pash), who was

inconsolable after the race. We hope to catch up again with ‘le Mechanic’ on next year’s Dragons cycle tour – but in the mean time, we wish you Bon Voyage.

Last but not least, a big thanks goes to our timekeeper on the day, Vikki, who frantically noted everybody’s split times for the attached results sheet.

Individual Time Trial – 23-June

Hoping the luck with the weather stays with us, we’ll be having the first of the ITT’s this weekend from Disney Hotel over the usual 48km, 2 loop course.

As per our usual wet weather rules, we will only cancel the race at 5am Saturday morning if the weather is bad, so please check our website if you’re in doubt.

Else, get yourselves over to the Disney Hotel car park for about 6am – the race will start with slowest rider first at 06:30am sharp, and then 10 second intervals.

This is a free race and open to both members and non-members. No need to register, just pitch up and race, so spread the word – more the merrier.

Summer BBQ 25-August

An early heads-up, we’ll be having a family summer afternoon BBQ on Saturday 25-August down at the Deep Water Bay Golf club. There will be a small charge – we’ll advise you nearer the time.

We’ll also be premiering our custom made, totally exclusive, one-off batch and produced by the master of disaster...our very own, Todd ‘Howling Mad-Dog’ Wong, will be pouring (for your pleasure) his chilled golden droplets of ‘Dragons Drool’....a cool and refreshing home brewed Ale, guaranteed to put a smile on your face....surely reason enough not to miss this momentus occasion.

So, put the date in your home diary, your work diary and on the kitchen wall – and we’ll see you, and your family on the day J
