ITT – Race 1 – Results

posted 25 Jun 2012, 03:32 by HK Dragons Triathlon Club

Seems a combination of Dragon Boating and potential rain kept the numbers away on Saturday, but we had 16 fearless riders start the first ITT of 2012.

Full bike bling was on show and Glenn (Snowy) Akers was sporting an Aero helmet almost as big as he was.

Riders set off at 15 second intervals with the slowest going first as per usual - and Mike Maiers in ultra tight fitting skin suit astride an all new aero-bike went last and it didn't take him long at all to catch some other strong riders in the early couple of KM’s of the race.

Typical of this time of year the wind was blowing moderate to strong and we all had it in our faces going Out on the first leg – so we were all hopeful for a great tail wind to bring us whistling back in towards Disney, but alas, it was a cruel and unfair wind that blew that day and as we turned at the gravel car park, the wind again faced us all the way back to Disney. So this years ITT times are a tad off the pace we saw in late October last year.

Ladies Yellow jersey holder Trilby was up against it with new comer YannKai who succeeded to pip Trilby by two minutes to win the Ladies yellow jersey.

Mens yellow jersey holder John (Shake-n-Bake) Adair was busy sunning his oversized butt in Portugal, so was not able to defend his Jersey, which Client Leung claimed with a blistering 1:13:57 ride and an average speed of 41.01 kph.

No crashes on the day which is a relief (Sheel), but Jeremy (Jezza) Bartlett almost came a cropper as he lost his aero bar mid race, but managed to stay on and complete the race, still giving myself (Drilly) and Dominic (Ace Ventura) Murphy a good run for our money.

And a huge thanks to our timekeeper on the day who tracked all our lap splits on the attached results page – Thanks Vikster.

As always, it was great fun and enjoyed by all.

Until next time.
