Dragons 'Founders Ride' - 29th June

posted 4 Jun 2013, 01:34 by HK Dragons Triathlon Club

Dear Member,

Many of you may not know this, but it was 10 years ago that a small group of likeminded triathletes sat around a table and discussed (over a beer or two) the need for a triathlon club in Hong Kong – and so was born the Hong Kong Dragons, now one of the longest and most well established clubs in Hong Kong and now well recognised regionally thanks to all of you who wear or club kit with pride when attending (and often winning) overseas events.

In recognition of that small group - our Founders - who had the foresight, the ideas and the motivation to launch a club that has grown and gone from strength to strength with every year that passes, the club will celebrate its 10th anniversary by having a ‘Founders Ride’ on Saturday 29-June, on Hong Kong Island. It would be most excellent if you could all attend and of course, it will be mandatory that you all wear your club kit, the original version please (not the limited edition 2012 jersey).

The plan is that we will all meet at the top of Wong Nai Chung Gap Road (outside HK Cricket Club) at 06:30am. We will drift off and head towards Shek-O, including the 4-D’s.
There will be a short coffee/toast stop in Shek-O, before lazily heading off to do Satellite hill before the long haul back to the Peak and Mount Austin. This is a social ride, so everyone should feel happy to cruise at their own pace.

To make this an even more social event, after completing the Peak we will all roll back down and rendezvous at Wan Chai Gap playground (on Stubbs Rd, by the old police station).
We would like you to all invite you family (wife’s, kids, partners etc) to join us – and if possible, bring a small snack and some drinks. There are numerous picnic benches next to the playground where the kids can entertain themselves, whilst we all have a little social.
Expectation is that riders should arrive at the park between about 10:00 and 10:30am. We will ensure we have some committee people there earlier to secure a corner and some tables etc. The social is very casual and people can drift of whenever they need to – I don’t expect it will go on past noon.

So please, stick the date in your diary and pray for good weather. You are the Dragons, without our members we have no club. See you there, it’s going to be a great day.

The Dragons

That’s how we roll.
