Summer Series TR 5 - No Sun but Still Fun!

posted 9 Sep 2016, 23:21 by HK Dragons Triathlon Club
Once again Hong Kong's fickle weather caused some to make the early call to abandon the pilgrimage to Shek O beach this morning and it was their loss. The first of the series of 3 was held in near-perfect conditions with a calm ocean swim, quiet roads and relatively cool air for early September. Tani Burge was looking to give Simon Porter a run for his money until a mechanical on the bike put paid to this.
As we were about to head out for Race 2 the heavens opened up and forced us to make this one a duathlon of 300m Swim followed by a 4km run. Something really special about swimming in the rain but our keen swimmers like Adrian Lydiard, Simon Porter, and Tani Burge still seemed to want to get out of the water and onto the road way too quickly :) The run was cool and comfortable as the rain was dissipating quickly.
It was a return to a traditional Triathlon format for the last race but caution on the bike was urged as the roads were very wet.

Great to see the new comers this morning. We trust you all enjoyed the morning and got what you wanted out of the event.
