Lots of news about the training race on the 18th of this month, the end of season Christmas/presentation party and the off-season series in this newsletter so don't delete this one till the dates are firmly in Facebook/Outlook/Google calendar or the pieces of dead tree that some still use.
Firstly, a big thank you to all who made the effort and entered the race early. We were very keen to avoid having to collect entry monies on the day as this is a longer event than usual so we want to get underway by 6.30 am so that we can still finish at a reasonable hour. The fact that the race is now closed and all have pre-paid ensures that this will happen.
I am attaching the revised course map to this email so that you can familiarise yourself well ahead of time. Please note that this race again starts from Big Wave Bay and not Shek O so make sure that you come to the right place. There should be plenty of parking there as the meters deter the locals from parking permanently as they do at Shek O. We will be operating a system whereby we will feed your meter for you during the race. You will need to pay $20 on the morning and put a sticker on your car so that we know if you want us to feed your meter during the race.
Please check the attached map for more details about the training race.
Secondly, we have planned a huge afternoon/evening at South Bay for members to celebrate the end of the season, to enjoy some food and drink and to honor the achievements of many who have made a lot of gains in triathlon this season. We are gathering at the South Bay Cafe from around 3 pm on December 17th. There is going to be some formal presentations but a lot of the event will be informal and just a chance to mix with like-minded members.
More details about this soon but mark the date.
Finally, we have a skeleton in place for the off-season series that we have been proposing. Notihng in stone yet but at this stage it is likely that we are offering the following 3 events.
- February 10th for a Road Bike/Trail Run event starting and finishing in Repulse Bay.
- March 10th for a Run/Bike/Run Duathlon starting and finishing at Disneyland carpark in Lantau.
- April 6th for a "icebreaker" triathlon at Shek O beach.
Thank you again for the great effort in getting entries in early. I look forward to seeing you all on the 18th of this month at Big Wave Bay. Remember that we are always looking for marshals on the day so tell your friends to come down.
Good Luck to all members in the Oxfam Trailwalker starting next Friday. If your company/family was desperate to sponsor a team and has not found one to date, suggest the Gatorailers, we are well short of our target! http://tinyurl.com/25derk
Cheers
