Event on 18/11, EOY Party and Winter series Print E-mail

ImageThis is being written way too late at night but I felt it important that we got some communication out to members to let you know that we are all busy and doing a lot of planning of events for members in the next few months.

Firstly, the last Training Race for the "season" is scheduled for November 18th. It will be longer than the previous events to allow members training for Laguna Phuket Triathlon on Dec 2nd the chance to test their stamina ahead of this classic and popular event for HK Triathletes. We have had a good number of new members join in the last few weeks and this, combined with the fact that we will have to start the race earlier than usual (6:30am with registration from 6:00am) means that we will not be in a position to accept any entries on the day. You must register for the race and pay ahead of the day.

Secondly, we are planning a big End of Season Wind Up this year as the healthy number of members mean that we can afford to at least partly take over a venue. There have been a lot of successes to celebrate in 2007 so we look forward to making this a memorable evening. The two dates being investigated are December 8th and 15th so pencil both into your diaries for now and we will get back to you ASAP with the date and more details.

Finally, the committee is looking at staging a series of 3 "off season" triathlons between now and next summer. The advantages of holding a triathlon in December, January or April is that you can have the beach to yourselves, the roads on the South side of the island are a lot quieter and the temperature is a lot more conducive to running and riding hard. OK, I know that I have left out the fact that the water is a tad cold but a good wetsuit can fix that. Especially if that wetsuit is one of the latest by a certain company that a committee member works for!!

The committee is looking into dates at the moment and will let you know when we have agreement on dates. As always your comments and feedback is always appreciated on any matter so hit the forum pages http://www.hktriclub.com/component/option,com_fireboard/Itemid,49/ to get a discussion started on any of the points in this newsletter.

Good Luck in the many events taking place this month. I'll no doubt see some of you on the hills getting in some trailwalker training.

Regards

Paul
