You can be excused for missing last Saturday's Twilight Event due to the non-typhoon that we had the day before. You should know, however that a very keen (or mad) group did brave the rain and had a great run followed by a BBQ on the beach at South Bay. A big thank you to all who turned up and assisted, especially to Brigette for the sausages and to Shay who did a great job of cooking them.
South Bay is a great location for this type of event and we will definitely have another there as it lends itself to a gathering of this sort, parking on a good day will be a hassle though!
I have been informed by our hard working training race coordinator, Mike Maiers, that the places for the race on the 26th are rapidly filling. Insurance does not permit us to have more than 50 people as a part of a training group which is what you are when you are doing a Dragon's event. We have well over 30 registered already and it is still just under two weeks away so do not expect to turn up and enter and pay on the day! You have been warned !
Speaking of the next event, we are making a LOCATION CHANGE. We are going to have the swim and the transition at BIG WAVE BAY rather than Shek O. The aim is to alleviate a lot of the congestion at Shek O, especially around the finish. PLEASE ENSURE THAT EVERY DRAGON YOU KNOW IS AWARE OF THIS CHANGE. It will be a shock for some if they find that they go to Shek O on the 26th and find noone there.
Finally, we have been contacted by the organisers of the City Chase http://www.citychase.com/to see if there is interest from the membership in forming teams for what sounds a great event. You can get forms from the website and if you complete them with "HK Dragons Tri Club" in the "other" field under "How did you find out
about the City Chase Event?" You will only pay $880 per team of 2 rather than the standard $1000. City Chase have also given us a free team entry to give out to a member chosen randomly on the 26th. NOTE: You must register before September 1st to take advantage of the discount.
I think that is all for now.
Happy training to all!
Paul
